Watch: Steph Curry's White House Message for Brittney Griner

He's got a lot to be thankful for.

Today, NBA champion Steph Curry showed his gratitude to the Biden administration during a visit to the White House with the Golden State Warriors. As is custom, the NBA championship team gets to take a visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, and Curry got to get up on the podium to give his own press briefing.

Curry thanked the president for freeing Brittney Griner, an American held in a detention center in Russia since Feb 2022 before recently being freed in late 2022. Griner, one of the most popular WNBA players on the planet, was arrested in Russia for having illegal substances in her luggage. She was held in a detention center for months without access to a lawyer or a translator while awaiting trial. The whole ordeal rocked the basketball community, and everyone is relieved that Griner is now back in the states.

The Warriors’ visit to the White House today was the first time Curry had the opportunity to thank the Biden administration for freeing Griner. “A great opportunity for us, from the basketball community, to thank President Biden and his staff for all their hard work and diligence in getting Brittney Griner home," Curry said.

The Warriors’ visit to the White House was documented by MeidasTouch (@meidastouch) and the video has been viewed more than 2,900 times. The video has been widely shared on social media, with many people expressing their gratitude to the Biden administration for their efforts in freeing Griner.
